Pakistani Taliban claim downing helicopter, say PM Nawaz Sharif was target

Gilgit: The Pakistani Taliban on Friday claimed responsibility for downing a military helicopter, killing six people including the Norwegian and Philippine envoys, and said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was their target. "The helicopter was shot down by an anti-aircraft missile, killing pilots and many foreign ambassadors," an Urdu-language statement e-mailed by their main spokesman Muhammad Khorasani said.

Jitan Ram Manjhi floats new party in Bihar

Patna: Former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday formally launched a new party, Hindustan Awami Morcha (HAM), which will contest all the 243 seats in the coming assembly polls.

HAM leader Shakuni Choudhary has been named its state president.

"The new party was to be announced on May 10. But I have decided to formally launch it now as I will be out of Patna for the next two days," Manjhi told the media here.

Kumar Vishwas `illicit relationship` row: Woman wants AAP leader to come clean

New Delhi: After being accused of passing sexist remarks, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Dr Kumar Vishwas is now in the middle of another controversy.

The poet-cum-politician is now accused by a female member of AAP of staying mum on rumours of having illicit relationship with her. Delhi Commission for Women has summoned the AAP leader and his wife on the basis of a complaint filed by the female party volunteer.

Al Qaeda's India wing targets PM Narendra Modi, says he called for Muslims to be 'burnt alive'

New Delhi: In a first, the al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) has directly mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a video message released by its publicity wing As-Sahab on May 2.

AQIS chief Maulana Asim Umar, in the video titled ‘From France to Bangladesh: The Dust Will Never Settle Down’, mentioned PM Modi in context of what he claims as the war against Muslims.
