Poor condition of roads

questions on the efficiency of the executing agencies in the state. No doubt, before the shifting of darbar to Jammu, all the roads in the city were repaired on war footing but it is astonishing that these repaired roads could not last for even the darbar move period and presented the dilapidated condition in four months. This shows the shoddy manner, in which the public works department is functioning, causing great inconvenience to the commuters. If it is the condition of Jammu city, what will be the condition of the roads of far–flung areas of the Division. In the Jammu division all the patch work carried by the concerned authorities have been washed away by the rains in the division and the roads have been turned into ditches, which causes great problems not only to the motor vehicles to cross the roads but even the pedestrians have to face a lot of problems in moving on these roads.    The condition of the roads in rural areas is quite pathetic.  All these roads have been left un-attended, as a result the people of these areas have to suffer a lot. Often road accidents take place in these areas, which claim precious lives. Due to the dilapidated roads, safe driving is impossible in these areas. Every time the authorities assures of better roads, for which the people of these areas cry, even they conduct protests for the repair on these roads but the authorities are least bothered. It has been observed that due to the bad condition of roads accidents take place and every time the authorities announce that the roads in the rural areas would be repaired on priority basis. But these roads have never been repaired and every time the residents are taking to streets to get their roads repaired. In a media report, the villagers in Bhaderwah, have made a new type of protest to get their road constructed. They have laid a condition for the participation in the Lok-sabha elections, which is” No Road, no vote”. This threatening reads that till the road in the concerned area is not constructed, the residents will not move to the polling stations. This clearly shows the condition of our roads. The Governor administration needs to formulate an emergency plan to repair and renovate all these damaged roads, so that people can avail the better road facilities.
