The department had started E-metering in the state to check the power theft but the department failed in making the state fully e-metered. It is surprising that even in some parts of the city e-metering has not been carried out, the department is fully aware of the reason.
This way the department have spoiled the wealth of the state. It is surprising that despite the enactment of law by the state legislature in 2010, which mandated supply of electricity to all its consumers through correct meters i.e., E- meters only. Under this legislation power supply to unmetered areas were to be stopped after April 2012. Despite having failed in e-metering, now the state govt. has begun installation of insulated wire to check the illegal use of power but this system is sure to be unsuccessful, as the department is working on this scheme since last three to four years but has not completed even the municipal area of the city. Moreover, the material used in installation of insulated wire is too inferior and sub-standard that the people have to face the problems.
A good number of domestic consumers have suffered a lot due to the sub-standard material, as their electric gadgets have burnt/spoiled for no fault of theirs.
The Governor administration needs to take serious action against all this, so that citizens can feel a sigh of relief in this scorching heat. Moreover, the department needs to check the unscheduled power cuts in Jammu and provide relief to its consumers in this humid temperature.
